This position is an excellent opportunity for those seeking a career in criminal justice. The GPS Technician will work independently within a city of Los Angeles courthouse working closely with law enforcement.

We are seeking a Full-Time Technician to assist in the installation/removal of electronic monitoring equipment of offenders within the County of Los Angeles Probation Department. The Technician will be responsible for maintaining equipment and inspecting monitoring devices returned upon completion of the program.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to those described below.

Installs and adjusts electronic monitoring equipment; fits monitoring device to probationer; transports/retrieves electronic monitoring equipment in various offices within the county.

Performs data entry of probationer’s schedules and curfews.

Removes electronic equipment from the individual; replaces and makes minor repairs to electronic equipment in use. Monitors individual via web app monitoring system; monitors and performs minor maintenance of equipment.

Driving using personal automobile to transport equipment locally, once per day. Mileage will be reimbursed according to the federal standard mileage rate and driving time is compensated.

Modify installs of electronic monitoring equipment that may include GPS Tracker or Transdermal Alcohol Device.

Requirements and Skills Needed:

Conversational Spanish
-
High School Diploma or Equivalent
-
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record including minimum auto insurance coverage required by California

Ability to prioritize tasks and utilize effective time management skills

Ability to find practical solutions to problems and clearly communicate details to the team

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

Professional appearance and attitude

Excellent people skills

Preferred Experience (Not Required):

Experience troubleshooting electrical components
-
Other hardware installation experience
-
Experience maintaining equipment inventory and warehouse RMA Process

Special Requirements:
Candidate will be required to qualify for a Los Angeles County security clearance. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance. Candidate must be 21 years of age or older per Los Angeles County Probation.

Work Shift Required: Wednesday-Friday 10:00 am-7:00 pm & Saturday-Sunday 8:00 am-5:00 pm
